HCG DIet Phase 1
Phase 1 involves the consumption of mixed HCG serum and powder in the form of droplets. This mixture triggers fat loss of 1-3 pounds per day. The mixture should be followed up with a 500-calorie diet for the next 21 days in order to take effect. In this phase, followers of the HCG diet would experience different changes taking place in their system, and among the common side effects are fatigue and loss of appetite. However, these are normal as the body needs to adjust to the HCG hormones present, and afterwards the normal body processes would resume.
HCG DIet Phase 2
Phase 2 meanwhile is known as the reduction phase. This phase lasts for 25 days, the first two being the loading stage. In the loading stage, the user may eat any type of food, as by this time the HCG consumed during phase 1 has already been absorbed by the system. After two days, the 500-calorie diet should once again be observed, consisting mainly of water, vegetables and an apple. According to Dr. Simeons, the developer of this phase of HCG diet, it is normal to feel weak and ravenously hungry during the first few days. These feelings can however be reduced by keeping user relaxed and free from stress.
HCG DIet Phase 3
Phase 3 on the other hand serves as the intermittent maintenance phase, and users are now allowed to eat gradual amounts of protein. In this phase the HCG levels in the body are already decreasing, thus they have to be maintained at substantial levels in order to prevent the onset of weight gain. By this time the desired target weight is already expected to have been reached, but the low calorie diet should still be practiced. Phase 3 lasts for 21 days; the user is no longer recommended to take HCG supplements during the last two days of this period.
Each phase has a maintenance period of up to 7 days, and it is likewise important to keep up with the necessary maintenance requirements. This is to avoid further side effects of the diet, such as muscle weakness, fatigue and depression.
Since the diet consumes a limited number of calories each day (500 as opposed to the normal 2,000 calorie diet), it is normal to feel weak and down. In order to reduce the intensity of feeling weak and tired, followers are advised to take up the proper supplements to boost their strength and resistance.
To those who are currently following an HCG diet, it is important to drink up to two liters of water each day to replenish body strength and boost detoxification, as well as Vitamin B complex to utilize the proteins for muscle consumption. Vitamin C, potassium and calcium are likewise helpful in keeping the immune system upbeat all day.
Since most of the vitamins and minerals are derived from foods which have to be avoided during the diet process, food supplements and chelated minerals are recommended for consumption. Digestive enzymes are also recommended to speed up the metabolism process.
